For Summer 2021, we have three Academy options at Kilgraston Summer School. Academy options must be selected at the time of booking in order to reserve a place.
Kilgraston is the only school in Scotland with an Equestrian Centre on campus, and our Equestrian Academy is run by Kilgraston's highly-qualified Equestrian team, who work at the school year-round.
Our Equestrian Centre is well-equipped and includes a 60m x 40m arena, hacking track and jumping paddock. We have a good selection of horses and ponies to fit a range of heights in participants. Sessions are designed to consider the abilities of each rider, and will include dressage, show-jumping, hacking and games. The focus is on progress, variety and fun, and each session will combine riding with stable management.
During Kilgraston Summer School's Equestrian Academy, students will learn how to ride, and also how to care for and prepare the horses.
Equestrian supplement: £150
Limited places available, we advise booking early.
Please note that because of the close physical contact needed to help beginner students to get on and off a horse, we may not be able to accept beginner-level students under the Scottish Government's coronavirus guidance. Our Equestrian Manager will review each booking made for this Academy, and will decide if a student has the correct ability level to join in safely. We will update this advice when guidance changes.
Taught by Kilgraston School's year-round LTA Level 4 Senior Performance coach, Kilgraston Summer School's Tennis Academy is designed for players of all abilities, from beginners through to performance athletes.
This Academy consists of a variety of sessions to help improve tennis practice. Each session will consist of exercises to improve basic skills and technique, agility and footwork, fitness, and overall performance. If the student wants to and is able, there will also be a focus on competition. The key objective of Kilgraston's Tennis Academy is to allow students to learn and play tennis in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Kilgraston School has 5 artificial grass courts and 3 hard courts, newly resurfaced in summer 2020.
New for 2021, Kilgraston Summer School's Dance Academy is run by a qualified dance instructor with years of experience dancing in and choreographing shows and productions both in the UK and overseas.
Dance sessions will cover ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip-hop styles, and will be tailored to the level and experience of each student participating. Sessions will focus on the skills and techniques for the different dance styles, as well as the choreography. The focus will be on improving dance skills, but also having fun at the same time.
Students will learn how to create their own choreography, and will perform some incredible dances for the whole school at the end of the week.
